MP shows support for new £72K community centre

MP Hazel springs into action to support new £72K community
centre
MP Hazel Blears lent her support to a
group of residents in Salford who are making a difference in their
community.
The Salford MP dropped in on Community
Spring Fayre, at the Affinity Sutton Community Room on Doveridge
Gardens, on Friday 13th April, from 1 -2pm which has been organised
by 10 local residents.
The free community event was organised after
residents signed up to a four week course in employment skills and
volunteering at the new £72K Community Hub on Elkanagh Gardens
delivered by the Seedley & Langworthy Trust in partnership with
national affordable housing provider Affinity Sutton which
owns around 265 properties in Salford.
Ms Blears will visit the event before visiting
the new £72,000 Hub, which is split across two sites and was
officially opened in November 2011.
The centre has undergone extensive structural
works and external decoration plus new IT infrastructure, including
WI-FI capability and equipment. The Hub, has been equipped
with a large training room that can hold up to 20 people and will
provide IT training facilities. While the ‘other’ half of the Hub
has been fitted with a new commercial size kitchen for
training purposes as well as new toilets and storage facilities
The refurbishment is part of Affinity Sutton’s
national community hub programme which is part of a wider network
of hubs across the country all receiving significant investment
from Affinity Sutton.
