Affinity Sutton recognised for its corporate responsibility two years running

Affinity Sutton receives Big
Tick reaccreditation from Business in the
Community
Award winning Community Investment programme retains its
Big Tick status in 2012 in the UK’s leading awards for responsible
business practice
Affinity Sutton’s acclaimed Community
Investment programme – which supports more than 10,000 people each
year - has retained its Big Tick status in Business in the
Community’s (BITC) 2012 Awards for Excellence.
The Big Tick is the first level of award
available to entrants of BITC’s national Awards for Excellence,
which recognises inspirational programmes that are making a
positive impact on the community, the environment or wider
society. It is the second year Affinity Sutton has been
recognised for its work Building Stronger Communities after being
named an Example of Excellence in the Building Stronger Communities
category in 2011 – the reaccreditation demonstrates its continuing
positive impact.
Business in the Community’s The Awards for
Excellence recognise the powerful and positive role that business
is playing in local communities by awarding companies for the
impact and innovation of their responsible business programmes
across a number of categories. The awards are given to companies
who demonstrate their leadership on the key social and
environmental issues where business can make a difference at local,
national and international levels.
Phil Miles, Director of Regeneration and
Communities for Affinity Sutton, said: “We are delighted to have
retained our Big Tick for 2012 which demonstrates our continued
commitment to investing our communities and the lasting impact we
have achieved. As a business for social purpose,
corporate responsibility is integrated it into our business
strategy and we know that we cannot build a successful sustainable
business without investing in our customers, communities and
staff.”
Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in
the Community said: “I congratulate Affinity Sutton for achieving a
reaccreditation for their Community Investment programme. There has
never been a better time to showcase that business can be a force
for good – for the mutual benefit of both business and the
communities in which they operate. Our Awards for Excellence are
all about celebrating responsible business and Affinity Sutton has
demonstrated that they can have a positive impact on society and
people without losing focus on their business.”
Affinity Sutton's Big Tick will be
announced in a
supplement in the Financial Times on 30 May 2012. The best of the
Big Tick winners will go forward to judging panels to identify an
overall winner in each category. The overall winners will be
announced in London at the Awards for Excellence Gala Event on 27
June 2012.
As part of BITC’s 30th anniversary
the 2012 Awards for Excellence will challenge businesses to do
more, make a bigger difference and place responsible business at
the heart of how they plan for the long term.
