Save money on food bills
Waste not want not!
How many times have you bought food, not got around to
eating it and had to chuck it in the bin?
Across the UK, we throw away 8.3 million tonnes of food each
year. What a waste of money!
Here are a few tips to keep both your belly and your
bank account full...
Residents' cooking tips
The weekly shop
Write a list and stick to it!
This is a good way to avoid the temptation of things that you
really don't need.
Check your fridge and freezer before you go
shopping to make sure you're not buying anything that you
already have.
Beware of special offers and reduced
items: only buy them if you know you will use them or can
freeze them for later.
Leftovers
Got a few vegetables that you haven't used or items
in the fridge that are about to go off? Experiment with recipes to
use all the leftover bits. Why not make a
vegetable soup or use them to make a sandwich at lunchtime?
DIY supermarket
All
you need is a windowsill to grow herbs. But, if you've got space
for a few pots, containers or grow bags, you can branch out to
veggies. Homegrown vegetables taste fantastic and
they're the freshest you can get.

can help...
