Delivering value for money

In the last financial year we made £9.5m of efficiency and administration savings across the business.

Our value for money achievements in 2011/12  include:

  • bringing our financial services function back in house after 10 years under an outsourcing contract. As well as enabling us to improve the service delivery we have made £650k of savings in the past year;
  • against unprecedented conditions we have materially increased investment in major works, regeneration and community activity, at a time when many associations are reducing expenditure in such areas;
  • we’ve made savings of upwards of £6 million on contracts to deliver external works and cyclical redecorations
  • made over £230k worth of savings through a new electrical testing contract
  • reduced spend on office services by over £180k
  • we've recently completed a project working with residents to review our grounds maintenance contracts in our North West region which has now been extended to the North East, Midlands and South West regions. Here we have been successful in generating savings of around 20%.
  • signed an insurance deal with Igloo Insurance PCC Ltd which has delivered savings of £200k annually.
  • from resurfacing paths to auditing costs, we’ve made savings of over £230k on smaller contracts across the board.
